Naomi Osaka of Japan squares off with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in an intriguing third-round clash on Friday at the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Osaka rolled into the third round of the Wimbledon Open with an easy win over Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic. The four-time Grand Slam winner was in her top form on Wednesday, surrendering only one service break behind 23 first-serve points and 13 second-serve points. Osaka also broke Siniakova’s serve four times, earning her 24th career win on the greens.
Pavlyuchenkova posted a 7-6(4) 6-4 win over Ashlyn Krueger of the United States to secure her slot in the round-of-32. After pulling off a comeback win over former Wimbledon Open quarterfinalist Ajla Tomljanovich 4-6 6-3 6-2, Pavlyuchenkova made sure she would not trail this time by capturing the first set following a hotly contested tiebreaker. Pavlyuchenkova continued to duke it out with a resilient Krueger in the second set, but the Russian once again came through with the big points at the clutch to put away Krueger for good.
