The finale of the prelims on Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night card will feature a phenomenal matchup in the Women’s Strawweight Division. Amanda Lemos (15-5-1) will faceoff with Gillian Robertson (16-8-0).
The veteran, Amanda Lemos, has had an up-and-down run over the past 5 fights. She finally got her title shot in mid-2023 and faced Zhang Weili. She lost by unanimous decision but bounced back quickly in her next fight by defeating now champion, Mackenzie Dern. From there, she lost to Jandiroba, defeated Lucindo, and lost most recently to Tatiana Surez in September. She is still 5th in the rankings but now faces the rising Robertson, who has been on a strong run lately n finally in the Top 10 of the division.
Robertson had lost 3 of her last 4 fights between 2020 and 2022. She was then able to get 2 victories to keep her status in the UFC, but took a bad loss to Ricci in June of 2023. However, since then, she has been on an absolute mission to not only stay in the UFC but to make a serious run at the title. She has won 4 straight and picked up KO/TKO wins in 2 of them. Before those wins, she had 9 of her 12 wins coming via submission. She has since really worked on her striking, and it has shown lately.
Lemos will be Robertson’s biggest test in terms of striking. This matchup could vault Robertson into the Top 5 conversation or send her back outside the Top 10.
