It's quarter finals time for the women at the US Open on Wednesday, when we'll see a repeat of the 2025 Wimbledon Final. That's right, Amanda Anisimova and Iga Swiatek will once again do battle. For the American, it's all about redeeming herself after she failed massively to compete with her Polish opponent at the home of grass-court tennis, losing not only in straight sets but failing to win a single game. Now ranked as the world number nine and coming off the back of some encouraging Flushing Meadows wins against Beatriz Haddad Maia and Jacqueline Cristian, can she raise her game and make life a little tougher for the world number two?
Having wiped the floor with Anisimova at Wimbledon, Swiatek will surely fancy herself to get the job done without much of a fuss on Wednesday, and it's quite easy to see that happening. Since leaving grass behind, the Polish player has been in imperious form, not only winning 11 out of 12 hard-court matches, but winning all but one of those 11 in straight sets.

Of course, it's easy to say, simply because she demolished Amanda Anisimova in the 2025 Wimbledon final, winning 6-0, 6-0, that Iga Swiatek will ease to victory here, and I'm not quite saying that, but what I am saying is that the Pole could very easily be an even stronger favorite to get the job done without losing a set. Sure, on US soil and on a hard surface, Anisimova could get a little more competitive, but is she likely to find enough improvement to seriously push Swiatek? For my money, absolutely not, and I'll be betting that the six-time Grand Slam champion gets over the line in relatively straightforward fashion.
