Holger Rune of Denmark looks to continue his winning ways as he matches up with Alexandre Muller of France in the third round of the 2025 Canadian Open on Thursday.
Rune punched his ticket to the third round with an impressive straight-set win over the big-serving Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6(7) 6-3. Rune used his experience and impeccable court coverage to effectively counter Perricard’s massive serves. Perricard could only score seven aces in the match and break serves once as Rune took away his main source of points. Rune held all his serves by winning 87 percent of his first serves and 86 percent of his second serves.
Muller outlasted Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia 2-6 6-3 7-5 to reach the round of 32 in Toronto. The Frenchman traded breaks with Kecmanovic but got the better of the exchanger by winning 43 points off the first serves and adding 17 more off the second serves, on top of seven aces. Muller improved his 2025 ATP season record to 21-19 and hard-court record this year to 10-6.
