On Tuesday, Alexandra Eala of the Philippines will go for a spot in the final of the 2025 Eastbourne Open against Varvara Gracheva of France.
Eala punched her ticket to the final four with a convincing win over Dayana Yastremska 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday. Yastremska came in as the clear-cut favorites, having compiled a 6-1 record on grass and a final stint in her previous tournament at Nottingham, but the fiery Filipina dominated her from the get-go, carving out a win as emphatic as his straight-set domination of Lucia Bronzetti 6-0, 6-1 in the first round. With her 9th victory on grass this year, Eala is through to her first WTA 250 semifinals and first final-four appearance on grass.
Gracheva received a walkover win on Thursday following the reigning Wimbledon Open champion Barbora Krejcikova's withdrawal due to a thigh injury. Like Eala, Gracheva earned her place in the main draw at Eastbourne by going through the qualifiers, winning a couple of qualifying matches before ousting Maria Camilla Osorio Serrano 6-4 4-6 7-5 in the first round, Rebecca Sramkova 7-5 6-3 in the second and Krejcikova in the quarters.
