At the WTA event in Madrid on Thursday, world number two and multiple Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek will be in action as she looks to recover from a recent blip. Usually when Swiatek takes on a much lower-ranked player, we all know what's coming. However, on this occasion, Poland's queen of the court is facing a hugely impressive up-and-comer, who came out on top when the pair met in Miami just under a month ago.
Alexandra Eala, who is rocketing up the WTA rankings thanks to showing some excellent form, has made a name for herself as a rapidly improving player in recent times. She reached the semi-finals in Madrid, pushing world number three Jessica Pegula to a third set. Clearly a player on the up, Eala will arrive for her second showdown with Swiatek having already played on the Madrid courts, beating Tomova in straight sets. The 19-year-old couldn't upset one of the very best players on the planet for a second time in less than a month, could she?
