Fresh off arguably the biggest win of his career, Alexander Bublik now shifts his attention to possibly winning it all as he goes for a semifinal ticket against Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Halle Open.
Bublik pulled off the upset of the week, stunning world’s No.1 and defending Terra Wortmann Open champion Jannik Sinner 3-6 6-3 6-4 in the second round. Bublik rose from the dead after losing the opening frame, as he punished Sinner with a barrage of winners and forced him to commit bunches of unforced errors. Bublik, who scored his first win over the world’s No.1 after four tries, fired 15 aces and won 46 points off the first serves.
Machac punched his way to the quarterfinals with a surgical 6-2 6-3 win over Fabian Marozsan of Hungary. It only took under an hour for Machac to dispatch the Hungarian, tagging him with 16 first-serve points and 5 breakpoint conversions. Machac’s grass-court record is now two games above .500 at 8-6.

Our Alexander Bublik vs Tomas Machac Prediction
Why should you bet on Alexander Bublik to cover -3.5 Games? (Win $135 on a $100 Bet) – Bublik is enjoying his best stretch of tennis in a long while. His victory over Sinner has just changed the landscape not only at the Terra Wortmann Open but probably for the rest of the grass-court season. Outside his dry humor and prankster, Bublik has always been a talented pro on the tour. On grass, he boasts a 45-28 record, or a 61 percent win rate, and was a round-of-16 competitor at Wimbledon two years ago. Of course, Machac is no easy foe. The Czech also has the weapons to beat anyone on a good day, but I believe that Bublik’s mental toughness and confidence have just received a shot in the arm because of that huge win over Sinner. I am excited to see where this surging momentum will take Bublik.
