Alex Michelsen of the United States will shoot for his first grass-court semifinal this year against former Wimbledon Open semifinalist Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in Thursday’s quarterfinals at the 2025 Mallorca Championships.
Michelsen garnered his fourth win on grass this year by topping countryman Brandon Holt 6-4 6-4. Coming off a quarterfinal run at the Halle Open, where he picked up a huge win over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the second round of that tourney, Michelsen landed 62 percent of his first serves while capturing five service breaks against Holt, which proved to be the difference-maker in the match. Michelsen upped his grass-court record to 19-12 and his 2025 ATP season record to 21-15.
Bautista-Agut made it to his second grass-court quarterfinal this year after hacking out a 6-3, 6-3 win over fellow veteran Bernard Tomic of Australia on Wednesday. The Spaniard played an efficient game, connecting 74 percent of his first serves and converting 4 of 6 breakpoint chances against Tomic, who had just won his first Main Tour-level match since 2021 in the previous round.
