Rising star Alex Michelsen will face Brandon Holt in an All-American showdown for a seat in the quarterfinal of the 2025 Mallorca Championships on Wednesday.
Michelsen is hot off a quarterfinal finish at the 2025 Halle Open, picking up a couple of wins against Francsico Cerundolo of Argentina 2-6 7-5 6-4 and Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 7-6(5) 7-5 before falling to eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev of Russia 4-6, 3-6 in the round of 8. Michelsen enters Wednesday’s second-round with a 18-12 record on grass and a 20-15 record in 2025.
Holt reached the round-of-16 at Mallorca as a qualifier, having won three matches in a row, including a 2-6 6-4 6-4 win over Benjamin Bonzi in the first round. Ranked 101st in the world, Holt carries a 7-5 record on grass and is 38-17 on the year, with majority of the wins coming below the ATP Main Tour level.
