One of the more eye-catching upcoming matches at the ATP event in Miami sees Alejandro Tabilo take on Brandon Nakashima. The American is the early favourite here but that's probably more to do with Tabilo's recent lack of hard-court matches than anything else. I'm not so sure that's an issue here, so much so that the Chilean looks a good bet to cause a minor surprise.

It would be wrong to say thatg Nakashima hasn't been playing well of late, because he has. However, he's benefitted from a few retirements, while his wins have generally come against modest opposition at best. Prior to his recent two wins, he came up short when facing Lehecka, who isn't ranked much higher than Tabilo. In contrast, the Chilean comes here in fine form. After that foray on clay in his home country, where he reached the final, he returned to hard-court tennis with a win over Kotov, who is ranked comfortably above Nakashima. Sure, he lost last time out, but that was against Taylor Fritz, and he showed more than enough quality when taking the first set to a tie break on that occasion to suggest that he'd have enough in the tank to dispatch of the much less impressive Nakashima. Throw in his very good hard-court record in 2024 and the Chilean simply looks undervalued by the early market here. Get on early and take advantage of those generous odds.
