De Minaur made a quick work of Corentin Moutet of France 6-4 6-3 to reach his second tour-level final this year. With the victory, De Minaur gets an opportunity to win his first ATP Tour title this year, but he must sustain his winning form because his next opponent is no easy foe.

Davidovich Fokina reached the championship match in Washington after blasting Ben Shelton in straight sets 6-2 7-5. Fokina, who sports a 17-8 record on hard court this year, has defeated three Americans in consecutive matches, including the top-seeded Taylor Fritz 6-2 7-5 and No.4 seed Shelton. In his victory over Shelton, Davidovich Fokina managed to stave off Shelton by yielding only one service break and converting four breakpoints in the match.
