The No. 8 Alabama Crimson Tide will get the 2025 college football season started with a trip to Florida to play the Florida State Seminoles at Doak Walker Stadium in Tallahassee. Kickoff for this ACC-SEC battle is scheduled for 3:30 pm EST, Saturday, Aug. 30, on ABC.
Year One in life after Nick Saban wasn't exactly a bust for the Tide with a 9-4 finish. But for the first time in years, Alabama wasn't a part of the national championship picture or the SEC championship. But with a veteran-laden team with 14 returning starters and a deep roster, Yeat Two post-Saban could see the Tide back where they belong. Transfer Ty Simpson is set to start at quarterback with a talented group of receivers and running backs at his disposal. As for Florida State, the Seminoles have just six returning starters, with only one on offense. But after a disastrous 2-10 season last year, that may be a good thing. Former Boston College QB Thomas Castellanos is set to lead an offense designed by new OC Gus Malzahn. The offense will have a ton of new parts and a lot of players who were on different teams last year. Expecting them to all be on the same page and ready to compete against a veteran Alabama defense may be asking a bit much.

Alabama is going to win this game. They have too much talent coming back to lose against a rebuilt FSU team. The Seminoles' offense could be good in time, but with a new OC and so many new players, it will not be ready to take on what might be the best defense in the country in Week 1. That being said, double-digit spreads make me nervous, and there is no value in the moneyline. However, if the Bama defense is as good as I think it may be, the TOTAL will not get anywhere close to 50.
