The semifinals of the SEC Tournament get underway today with the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide (25-7, 13-5) taking on the No. 4 Florida Gators (28-4, 14-4 ). Fans can enjoy this intense SEC battle between two top-five teams via ESPN starting at 3:30 p.m. ET.
Alabama had a lackluster finish to the regular season, with wins in just three of their last seven games. However, to be fair, each game was against a ranked opponent, but the losses did include a defeat at the hands of the Florida Gators in Tuscaloosa, 99-94. But they bounced back nicely with a win over then-No. 1 Auburn in OT in their regular season finale/. The 70 points they gave up to Kentucky in the quarterfinals was the third-lowest point total by a conference opponent this season.
Florida had a better finish to the regular season, winning nine of their last ten games, including their last three. However, the loss was a bit perplexing, coming against a mediocre Georgia Bulldogs team (88-83). They had no trouble taking care of business against Missouri in their quarterfinal match-up. After taking a 50-37 lead into the break, they cruised through the second half to win by 14 (95-81).
