Last season's beaten finalists Inter Milan begin their 2025/2026 Champions League campaign with a tricky away matchup against Ajax on Wednesday evening. It has been a tough start to the Serie A season for new Inter boss Cristian Chivu. After thrashing Torino 5-0 on gameday one, they have lost back-to-back games against Udinese and Juventus, the latter courtesy of a dramatic last-minute winner from Juve's Vasilije Adžić. One big positive for Chivu has been the form of striker Marcus Thuram. The French star has three Serie A goals so far and is arguably playing the best football of his career.
As for Ajax, they have bounced back well from last season's crushing late season collapse that saw them miss out on the Eredivisie title. After five games this season, John Heitinga's men are unbeaten and playing some excellent attacking football. It remains to be seen whether they can replicate those performances in Europe, but hopes are high that the Dutch giants are moving in the right direction after a tough few seasons.
