The new-look FIFA World Club Cup kicks off this weekend and the opening fixture is a fascinating clash between the superstars of Inter Miami and Egyptian giants Al Ahly. Both sides are in a very competitive looking Group A, along with Porto and Palmeiras, but whoever picks up three points on Saturday will be in an excellent position to claim one of the two qualification places from the group.
Although Al Ahly are riding high at the top of their domestic league, Saturday night's game represents a significant step up in class for a team lacking experience when it comes to playing top level opposition. In contrast, Inter are blessed with an array of famous stars who have lit up the world game over the last 15 years. In additon to the generational talent of Lionel Messi, Inter boss Javier Mascherano will also be able to call upon the likes of Luiz Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

AL Ahly SC - Inter Miami CF: Form Analysis
Al Ahly have won six of their eight games so far in the Egyptian Premier League Play Offs, including a thumping 6-0 victory over Pharco last time out. During the regular season, the Cairo giants finished second in the table, just three points behind the table topping Pyramids. Al Ahly qualified for the competition thanks to their incredible record in the CAF Champions League, a competition they have won in three of the last five seasons.
Inter finding their form
Given the incredible names in their squad, it has been a slightly underwhelming start to the MLS season for Miami. Nevertheless, back-to-back victories over Montreal and Columbus have moved Mascherano's men up to third in the MLS Eastern Conference. Inter's participation in the Club World Cup is due to the fact that they won last season's MLS Supporters' Shield - an award given to the team with the best regular season record.

Al Ahly's main goalscoring threat will come from striker Wessam Abou Ali. The Palestinian scored 18 goals in 19 games last season and has added another 10 in 16 already this season. Al Alhy's other star player this season has been attacking midfielder Emam Ashour, who has racked up an impressive 13 goals and seven assists from his 23 starts. Another player to watch will be veteran goalkeeper Mohamed El Shanawy. The experienced shot-stopper has 66 caps for the national side, and his six clean sheets were instrumental in Al Ahly's CAF Champions League success last season.
All eyes on Messi
Naturally, all eyes will be on Messi on Saturday night. The Argentinian has not quite been at his best in recent months, but four goals in his last two games are evidence that he can still perform at the highest level. Aside from Messi, Telasco Segovia is a name to watch in the Miami squad. The Peruvian has four goals and five assists in the MLS this season and is being earmarked for a move to Europe in the near future.
