Ben Shelton of the United States will try to clinch a spot in the third round of the 2025 Canadian Open against the ever-entertaining Adrian Mannarino of France on Wednesday.
Shelton is itching to get back in action after falling two wins short of a title at the 2025 Washington Open. The No.7 ranked American posted wins over Mackenzie McDonald 6-3 6-4, Gabriel Diallo 6-3 6-2, and Frances Tiafoe 7-6(2) 6-4 before succumbing to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 2-6 7-5 in the semifinal.
Mannarino made it to the second round of this ATP 1000 event after downing Marcos Giron 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Mannarino, who secured a main draw slot with a 6-3 6-1 win over Juan Carlos Miguel Aguilar in the qualification stage, won 91 percent of his first serves and added 16 more points off the second serve to concede only one service break against the Canadian. Mannarino also broke Aguilar three times with only 12 return points.
