These stars will be there, among others
From December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, the most important title in African soccer will be contested in Morocco. Of course, world stars such as Mo Salah (Liverpool FC), Achraf Hakimi (Paris Saint-Germain), and Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray Istanbul) will be there again, as well as stars from Europe's top leagues such as Nicolas Jackson (Bayern Munich), Ramy Bensebaini (Borussia Dortmund), Yann Diomande (RB Leipzig), and many others.
New tournament date
For the first time, the tournament will take place over Christmas and New Year's Eve. The group stage will be played until the end of 2025. From 2026 onwards, things will get really exciting, as the knockout stages begin with the round of 16, meaning that all teams still in the competition will have to win or go home!
How to watch the Africa Cup of Nations in the US?
As usual, the experts at SportyTrader are offering their Africa Cup of Nations predictions again this year, which you can follow and cheer on throughout the competition. You can watch the Africa Cup of Nations live on TV or online on the following channels:
- fuboTV (beIN SPORTS)
- Streaming Services (Sling, Fanatiz)
What does this mean for viewers?
The entire Africa Cup of Nations will be broadcast live on fuboTV with beIN SPORTS, which is the official rights holder for the tournament. All matches in the tournament will be shown there, both on TV and simultaneously as a stream on the website and in the app. However, the Africa Cup matches will not be broadcast in the US via free-to-air TV. Summaries of the many matches will probably also be available on beIN and ESPN afterwards, so that viewers can get an idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the teams from the highlights and thus better assess and place their bets.
What is the format of the tournament?
The Africa Cup of Nations is structured similarly to the European Championship. Twenty-four teams compete in six groups of four, with each team playing every other team in its group once. The six group winners, the six runners-up, and the four best third-placed teams qualify for the knockout stage, as was the case at last year's European Championship in Germany. This is followed by the round of 16, quarterfinals, semifinals, third-place play-off, and final. There are a total of 52 games in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Who's playing in the 2025 AFCON?
