La 40e journée de Championship comprend de nombreux enjeux sur le sol anglais. West Bromwich et Sunderland se trouvent dans le top 6 du championnat, tout en n’ayant pas les mêmes objectifs. Avec 72 unités au compteur, les Black Cats sont certains de jouer les playoffs à l’issue de la saison régulière, ce qui n’est pas le cas de WBA. En effet, le groupe entraîné par Tony Mowbray n’arrive pas à se débarrasser de plusieurs concurrents. Cela s’explique par un enchaînement de mauvais résultats côté Baggies car aucun succès n’a été observé depuis 270 minutes sur le sol anglais. Vaincu par Norwich le week-end dernier sur le score de 1-0, West Bromwich va devoir utiliser le soutien du 12e homme afin de conserver sa sixième place.

Les rouges et noirs peuvent s’appuyer sur un succès obtenu avec la manière contre Millwall la semaine passée pour attaquer ce déplacement délicat à Hawthorns. Si le club rival de Newcastle veut éviter des mauvaises surprises en playoffs, il doit être en capacité de s’imposer à West Bromwich.
