The Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Nationals slug it out in Saturday’s Game 2 of their weekend series at Oriole Park.
The struggle continues for the Orioles, who absorbed their 13th defeat at home following Friday’s 3-4 heartbreak at the hands of the visiting Nats. Baltimore, who fall in the bottom quadrant of batting and pitching metrics, were on the lead 3-2 after seven innings but allowed James Wood to belt a game-tying solo homer in the 8th, and a Jose Tena score off an infield hit by Nasim Nunez in the 9th.
The Nats recorded their second win in three games, and both games needed a game-winning play by Wood to pull it off. Wood is batting .237 with 12 homers and 27 RBIs this season, emerging as another vital member of Washington batting corps next to CJ Abrams and Nathaniel Lowe. Abrams and Low lead the team in batting average (.305) and RBIs (31), respectively.
