The Los Angeles Angels and the Tampa Bay Rays will settle their score in Wednesday’s series finale at Angel Stadium.
The Rays evened the series on Tuesday at 1-1 after winning Game 2, 7-3. Brandon Lowe belted a two-run homer to ignite Tampa Bay’s 7-0 blast in the 4th inning. Ryan Pepiot also secured a win after allowing two earned runs over 5.2 innings. Jo Addell tried to rally his team back into the game with a two-run homer in the 5th inning and an RBI single in the 6th inning. Still, the Rays’ bullpen shut down any possibility of a comeback by holding the Angels scoreless in the final three innings.
Tuesday’s setback ended the Angels’ two-game win streak. Los Angeles sits fourth in the AL West with a 55-59 record. The Angels are averaging 4.0 runs per game and pitching a 4.00 ERA in their last five assignments. These are solid numbers for any major league team, yet the Angels still lose bunches of winnable games this year.
