Betting odds for the Women's European Championship place Spain as the favorite to win the title, with England, the reigning champions, the second-most favored.
The England women's national soccer team, despite being the reigning world champions, has never been at a blistering pace. Before traveling to Switzerland for the European Championship, they lost to Belgium and Spain in the Nations League. They lost 2-1 to France in their opening match, but have managed to rebuild their reputation as a tough team to beat in the following two matches by thrashing the Netherlands 4-0 and Wales 6-1. Six different England players scored in the final rout, but betting sites predict a more even playing field for the quarterfinal match against Sweden.
The Swedes are on a blistering pace throughout the European Championship and are now the fourth favorite to win it all. They won all three of their group stage matches, using a high-pressure 4-2-3-1 formation. At just 18 years old, Swedish full-back Smilla Holmberg has excelled at this European Championship.
