The Los Angeles Dodgers will go for the jugular as they attempt to complete a sweep over their fiercest rivals in the NL West this season, the San Diego Padres, on Sunday at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers have reclaimed the No.1 spot in the NL West after scoring back-to-back wins over the Padres. Edging the Padres 3-2 in Game 1, Los Angeles came through with a more convincing win in Game 2, as starter Blake Snell pitched scoreless innings, while Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman each belted a homer to power their team to a 6-0 win. The Dodgers improved their record to 70-53, leading by one full game over the 69-53 Padres.
San Diego entered the series with the Dodgers in incredible form, pitching a sub-2.00 ERA and averaging at least five runs per game. But all of their advantages they thought they would have in this series have been thoroughly negated by the Dodgers, who are suddenly playing winning baseball following a sweep at the hands of the LA Angels.

I am taking the Dodgers to win by at least two runs against the Padres on Sunday. Tyler Glasnow, who lost his last two starts against San Diego, will have his first crack at the Padres this season. Glasnow holds a 2.73 ERA over his last five starts, and has given up an average of 2.0 earned runs in his last three starts vs. the Padres. He will duel against the Padres’ Yu Darvish, who carries a 5.33 ERA in his last five.
San Diego’s pitching numbers in their last five games are simply outstanding. They have pitched a 2.09 ERA while their bullpen is giving up a 1.71 ERA in the stretch. But all these spectacular stats don’t mean a thing each time they play the Dodgers. Los Angeles is 8-2 in their last 10 meetings with the Padres, winning by at least two runs in five of those eight wins.
