by Stephen Abiola in World Cup Picks
Nigeria and Gabon will face off in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on Thursday afternoon at the Moulay Hassan Stadium. The Super Eagles will look to qualify for the prestigious competition despite some early setbacks in the qualifiers. They suffered three consecutive draws and a painful loss against the Benin Republic, leaving them clinging to their last hope in Group C. However, Eric Chelle’s side regrouped to secure a second spot in the group and book a playoff date with Gabon.
Gabon, on the other hand, was in Group F with the heavyweights, the Ivory Coast. As expected, this was going to be a straight shootout between the two West African nations, with the Ivory Coast securing an automatic qualification spot with 26 points. Gabon only managed a second-place finish with 25 points despite their impressive outings. They’ll be fired up to prove that they deserve a spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Our Nigeria vs Gabon Prediction
The Super Eagles have picked up form at the right time to revive their hopes of making the World Cup. Their 4-0 win against the Benin Republic showed renewed hunger and desire to correct past mistakes. If Nigeria defeats Gabon, they could set up a thrilling final clash against either Cameroon or DR Congo. However, Gabon won’t make it easy for Nigeria. They have been in impressive form, avoiding defeats in the last five matches while winning on four occasions. Their LAFC striker, Denis Bouanga, is having an outstanding campaign, topping the scoring charts in the qualifiers with eight goals. Marseille forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also a reliable goal source. Still, we think Nigeria will edge them out 2-1 in Morocco on Thursday.
Our prediction for Nigeria vs Gabon: Both teams to score.
