On Thursday, the Brewers rested, with the best record in MLB at 64-44, and in the meantime, they made their trade deadline moves, a risky one by bringing in injured D-backs starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery and closer Shelby Miller.
As of today, a bet on the Brewers to win this year's World Series pays +1500, a crazy odds considering their winning record and tremendous comeback to momentarily wrest the lead in the Central Division from the Cubs, whom they recently defeated in a series at American Family Field.
In the Brewers-Cubs series, in Game 1, Vaughn, Frelick, and Yelich homered; for Yelich, it was his 20th of the season. In Game 2 of an epic grand slam, Vaughn was decisive, and the Cubs were able to avoid a sweep by winning Wednesday's game 10-3.
Now the Brew Crew travels to Nationals Park for a new series against the Nats, who were swept by the Brewers in Milwaukee in July.
