Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan will face Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Canadian Open on Monday.
Rybakina rolled into the last eight after outlasting Dayana Yastremska 5-7 6-2 7-5 in an action-packed match on Saturday. The Kazakh rebounded from a set down by playing aggressive tennis in the second set before showing incredible composure to fend off Yastremska in a hard-fought deciding set. Since starting the North American hard-court season, Rybakina has won five of her last six matches.
Kostyuk reached the quarterfinals after posting three consecutive three-set wins. The Ukrainian opened her campaign in Montreal with a 2-6 6-3 6-2 win over Marketa Vondrousova and followed it up with another thrilling victory over Daria Kasatkina 3-6 6-3 7-6(4). She punched her ticket to the last eight with another comeback against McCartney Kessler 5-7 6-3 6-3.
