The Los Angeles Dodgers and Giants will face off in Game 2 of their three-game weekend series this afternoon at 4:05 p.m. EST at Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA. Despite their recent struggles, the Dodgers opened as betting favorites over the home team Giants.
It’s been a tough run for the Dodgers of late. With a 3-2 loss to the Brewers in Milwaukee yesterday, the Dodgers were swept in their second consecutive series; they had previously been swept by the Astros in Houston. It’s the first time the Dodgers have lost six in a row since the 2019 season. As for the Giants, San Francisco would like nothing more than to erase some of the gap between the division-leading Dodgers and second-place Giants. To that end, the Giants will hand Landen Roupp the ball to start the day. Roupp is 6-5 in 18 starts with a 3.39 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. However, he has had his best stuff when pitching at home, where he is 2-1 in seven starts with a 1.85 ERA and an oba of .234. The Dodgers are set to go with Shohei Ohtani, but he will probably not pitch more than a couple of innings before LA pulls him out of the game.

Okay, so 15 runs were scored in yesterday’s game, and today’s total is only eight. But the Dodgers, prior to breaking out for seven runs last night, scored just one in four of their previous six losses (two and four in the other two games). I have no confidence in them doing any better against a pitcher with a 1.85 home ERA with the best bullpen in baseball backing him up. Ohtani will shut the Giants down for a few innings, but his bullpen will let the game slip away. Fade the public on the TOTAL if you really want to bet on the TOTAL. The moneyline is a better bet.
