The Los Angeles Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies are set to wrap up their three-game interleague series today in what has been a back-and-forth matchup between the two clubs. The Angels kicked off the second half of the MLB season with a solid win on Friday night, but the Phillies responded with a strong 9-5 victory on Saturday, evening the series and setting up a rubber match with implications for both teams as they chase postseason positions.
The Angels enter today’s game looking to continue building momentum after a mixed but competitive stretch of games. They recently took two out of three from the Arizona Diamondbacks and split a four-game set with the division-rival Texas Rangers.
With three wins in their last five contests, Los Angeles has shown signs of offensive life, scoring five or more runs in four of those outings. However, they remain in fourth place in the American League West and face an uphill climb in the standings.
