Learner Tien will square off with Nishesh Basavareddy in an All-American first-round clash on Monday at the 2025 Wimbledon Open.
Tien is set to make his Wimbledon Open debut after an encouraging first go-around in the grass-court season. Ranked 67th in the world, Tien has gone 3-3 in six grass-court matches over the past three weeks and made it in his first grass-court quarterfinals at the 2025 Mallorca Championships after earning wins over Justin Engel of Germany 6-4 6-4 and world’s No.10 and top-seed Ben Shelton of the USA 6-2 7-5.
Basavareddy is 2-2 in this year’s grass-court season, but he’s still searching for his first main tour grass-court win since his victories over Mariano Navone 6-1 6-4 and Botic Van de Zandschulp 6-4 6-7(5) 7-5 came in the qualifying round of the Mallorca Championships. The 20-year-old Basavareddy ranks 99th in the world rankings with a 14-14 record in 2025.
