The Kansas City Royals and the Houston Astros will resume their series on Tuesday at Dalkin Park with the road team leading 1-0.
The Royals drew first blood in the series as they took Game 1 by a score 7-5. The visiting team took the air out of the Astros and their fans after storming to a 7-0 lead behind a flurry of runs spearheaded by Bobby Wit Jr. and Jonathan India. Michael Wacha had held the Astros scoreless through the first six inning until giving up two earned runs in the 7th innings. Carlos Estevez garnered his 12th save of the season after the shutting the door on a comeback with a strong closeout in the 9th inning.
With their second loss in three games, the Astros are back at .500 with a 20-20 record, third in the American League West. Houston is dealing with some pitching issues as they have allowed a 4.20 ERA in their last 5 games. Fortunately, the Astros’ offense has been clicking during this stretch, averaging 6.7 runs per game on a .311 batting average.
