The Boston Red Sox will try to keep the good times rolling today when they host the Kansas City Royals in Game Two of a three-game series at Fenway Park. Fans can follow the action once the game gets underway at 7:10 p.m. EST.
Boston took an early lead against the Royals yesterday with five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Down 8-1 heading into the eighth inning, Kansas City tried to mount a comeback with four runs to make the score 8-5. But they were held scoreless in the ninth, giving the Red Sox their sixth win in a row.
They’ll try to make it seven in a row with Garrett Crochet getting the start. Crochet is 12-4 in 22 starts this season with a 2.23 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and .221 OBA. He’s gone 3-3 at home in ten starts with a 2.42 ERA and .224 OBA. In 34 at-bats vs. Crochet, Boston hitters have gone .176 (6-34). As for the Royals, they’ll give newly acquired Ryan Bergert his first start for the team. Previously with the Padres, he had gone 1-0 in 11 appearances (seven starts) with a 2.78 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and .186 OBA.

It will be interesting to see how the Royals manage Bergert. The Padres rarely let him go very deep into games; he didn’t even go five innings in his last four outings. Of course, he’ll have his hands full against a hard-hitting Red Sox team hitting .300 over the last week. Crochet is one of the best in the business and should be able to handle a KC lineup hitting .226 over the last week. However, I didn’t think the Royals' offense would wake up yesterday, and it did. So, I don’t feel comfortable going with the runline, and the TOTAL is pretty low, which leaves one bet to make.
