In the US capital, in the weekend series, the Nationals pitchers couldn't hold off the Padres' bats and lost the series when they lost both Friday and Sunday, allowing grand slams in both. The Nationals, no longer managed by Dave Martinez, then face another series at Nationals Park starting Monday, this time against the Reds.
The Nats and Reds already faced each other in early May at Great American Ball Park; that was a series the Nationals won two games to one, earning betting sites odds of +164 for their 6-11 victory in Game 2.
Monday's game will have the Reds as heavy betting favorites, even as visitors. Brady Singer, who with a 7-7 record found tremendous consistency in June and July, will pitch again for the Reds.
