The New York Yankees take their four-game win streak into a new series with the Chicago Cubs on Friday at Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees have completed a sweep of the Seattle Mariners to push their win streak to four games. New York (52-41) is still two games behind the new AL East leaders, the Toronto Blue Jays (54-39), but they have an opportunity to recapture the No.1 spot in their division if they earn strong results against the skidding Cubs over the weekend.
The Cubs (55-38) are now just two games ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers (52-41) after winning only two of their last five games. Chicago’s offense continues to produce solid numbers at 5.7 runs per game over the last five games. However, the Cubs have been erratic on the mound, posting a dismal 4.40 ERA in their last five.
