UFC Lightweight division veterans Beneil Dariush (20-6-1) and Renato Moicano (22-6-1) will clash this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Dariush will be looking to quickly bounce back from his recent KO defeats against Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan. Just recently in 2022, he was riding on an eight-fight winning streak and staring at a possible title shot. He’s currently in a “no man’s land.”
Unlike his opponent this season, Renato Moicano got his first title shot in the franchise this year against Islam Makhachev. However, nothing went according to plan after he lost the fight in the first round via a d’arce choke. Prior to that fight, he was riding on a nice four-fight winning streak, establishing himself as a Top 10 contender in the lightweight division. He will be eager to get back to winning ways on Saturday.

Dariush’s fortunes have tumbled in recent months. Both Oliveira and Tsakuryan quickly took him out in the first round, and his fans will be wondering if he still has what it takes to compete. On top of that, he has been stopped by KO/TKO five times and suffered one submission loss. However, in his defense, these losses were against a pair of Top 5 contenders. Before that, he was defeating a better level of competition than Moicano, who doesn’t have the aggressiveness of Oliveira and Tsakuryan. Moicano simply doesn’t have the tools to maximize Dariush’s recent struggles. Still, he should stick around in this fight.
