On Saturday, the Astros earned a valuable victory against the Orioles, beating them 5-4 in 12 innings. Urías, with a force out, drove in the winning run off Carlos Correa's spikes. In the seventh inning, Altuve hit his other key home run, which at first appeared to be a triple, but after review, it was ruled an HR. The Astros now move a game and a half clear of the Mariners for the Eastern Division lead, in a head-to-head battle between Houston and Seattle that promises to go the distance.
The series continues on Sunday at Daikin Park, and Cristian Javier is expected to be the Astros' pitcher. Javier returned to pitch for the Astros after undergoing Tommy John surgery last season. In his first start of 2025, he recovered from a home run hit by Bergman of the Red Sox, then pitched five solid innings, allowing just two earned runs.
For the O's, Dena Kremer will be pitching the domino game after an excellent start against the Mariners, pitching eight innings and striking out six.
