The St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves will resume their series on Saturday at Target Field.
The Cardinals absorbed a heartbreaking 5-6 loss in Game 1 despite seizing an early 6-2 lead. Starter Matthew Liberatore has had one of the worst mound appearances this season after surrendering 6 earned runs in 3.0 innings against the Braves. The Cardinals, who are pitching a 4.11 in the season, has posted a higher ERA (5.11) in the last five games as a result of heavy losses against the Cubs 0-11, the Nats 2-8 and the close loss to the Braves.
Speaking of the Braves, they have improved their record to 41-52 following the Game 1 win over the Cards. Atlanta has batted .230 with 4.0 runs per game in their last five games. They have also pitched a 4.57 ERA in the stretch, where they went 2-3. Matt Olson leads his team in home runs (17) and RBIs (58), but Ronald Acuna Jr. is gradually regaining his MVP form back after posting a .333 BA and 21 RBIs this season midway into the season.
