Formula 1 USA Grand Prix 2025: Betting market points towards a tight race

When and where is the USA Grand Prix?
The USA Grand Prix will be held on Sunday, October 19th, and is due to begin at 14:00 local time.
Hosted in the state of Texas, this rather prestigious Formula 1 event will unfold at the Circuit of the Americas, which is located just outside of downtown Austin. Specifically, the Circuit of the Americas is situated in Del Valle, which is seven miles from the heart of Austin.
USA Grand Prix history
For those not regularly following Formula 1, or those who may not be too familiar with this race, the USA Grand Prix is something that has been happening on and off for more than a century.
The race was first held in 1908. Since then, we’ve seen the race come and go, with a clear decline in the late 1940’s/early 1950’s, while it’s also been held in various locations.
Since 2012, the USA Grand Prix has pretty much been a constant fixture, taking place almost every year in Austin.
Previous winners of this famous race include legendary drivers such as Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Jackie Stewart and Ayrton Senna, all of whom have scooped the prize on multiple occasions.
Lewis Hamilton is the most successful driver in USA Grand Prix history, winning the race an unprecedented six times, securing his first victory in 2007, before driving his way to success for the sixth time in 2017.

USA Grand Prix betting market
Right now, the Formula 1 drivers’ standings is fairly tight, with Oscar Piastri leading the way, but the Australian is far from miles out in the lead. Close behind is Lando Norris, who like Piastri, drives for McLaren.
Not too far behind the McLaren pair is Max Verstappen, the hugely successful Red Bull Racing driver, who is now very much a veteran of the sport, despite still only being 28.
As things stands, any one of the three drivers mentioned could win the drivers’ championship, so it’s probably not surprising that the betting ahead of Sunday’s race is very tight.
Here’s what the betting market from our top sportsbooks looks like:
Max Verstappen +210
Lando Norris +220
Oscar Piastri +220
George Russell +1000
Charles Leclerc +1200
Lewis Hamilton +1600
Andrea Kimi Antonelli +5000
Carlos Sainz +20000
All other drivers +25000 or bigger.
From the market, we can clearly see that any winner other than Verstappen, Norris or Piastri would go down as a sizable upset, but the market also has no real idea about who is going to get across the line in first place.
Three drivers vying for market supremacy
At the time of writing, Max Verstappen is currently the narrowest of market leaders, but as we can see, there really is nothing between the trio at the head of the betting.
When the race last took place, Verstappen finished third, which was a bit of a disappointment given that the Dutchman won the event in both 2023 and 2022. He arrives in Austin in hot form having recently won both the Italian and Azerbaijani Grand Prix’s, though he could do no better than second in Singapore last time out, which may have dented the confidence of the third-most successful driver in Formula 1 history.
Given what we’ve seen from him in recent times, it will of course be a surprise if Red Bull Racing’s top man fails to make the podium, but it won’t be much of a shock if he fails to come home in front, let’s be honest.
Given that they’ve won 12 out of 18 races between them in 2025, the McLaren boys are no fools, and given that the team has now gone three GP’s without getting a driver on the number one podium position, this is absolutely a race that they’ll want to win.
In its current form, though, the McLaren team has never won the USA Grand Prix, so both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris will be bidding to make history on Sunday afternoon. Can either of them do it? The early betting market thinks they’ve got a decent chance, that’s for sure.
