The icing on the cake of what should be the best PPV card of the year will feature the 3rd and final welterweight matchup of the night. Islam Makhachev (27-1-0) did all he could do in the lightweight division and vacated his title in his quest to get the shot at the welterweight title. He defeated absolute legends during his reign. The likes of Oliveira, Volkanovski, and Porier all fell at the hands of Islam. He is arguably the best pound for pound fighter in the UFC. But this will be a different type of test for him. He is moving up in weight and facing a champion in Jack Della Maddalena who has been undefeated since losing the 1st two fights of his career. He is not even close to the fighter he was when he started and the 18 wins with 12 of them coming via KO/TKO prove just that. Jack is the younger fighter in this matchup and will hold a small reach advantage. The other piece is that Islam is not going to have the advantage of being the larger fighter in this matchup and will have a hard time controlling Jack if he is to get him on the ground. We expect Jack to frustrate Islam by continuing to get to his feet after being taken down and punishing him whenever they stand and strike in this one.
