The Philadelphia Flyers (15-8-3) will host the Colorado Avalanche (19-2-6) on Sunday afternoon. This will be the 1st meeting between the teams and will feature one of the best teams in Colorado and one of the most surprising teams in the Flyers.
Philadelphia had limited expectations coming into the season, but now has them a bit elevated with its solid play to date. They come into this contest having won 4 of their last 5 games. The goaltending and defense have been the bright spots for these Flyers. They are 8th in the league in goals allowed on the season. The offense is what has been holding them back. They are near the bottom in goals scored and will need to create more scoring opportunities, especially in this matchup against the tough Avalanche.
Colorado is top of the league in both goals scored and goals allowed. It is no surprise that they already have 19 wins and sit at the top of the standings when they are that dominant on both sides of the ice. This will be the 3rd game of their 4-game road trip, and they have already lost to the Islanders in the opening of the trip. They then won their previous game in overtime against the Rangers.
