Toronto have been juggling MLS and Canadian Championship fixtures and so far they are managing in Canada but struggling a bit in the MLS. This weekend their focus switches to the MLS where they host Atlanta United. The two eastern Conference sides are four points apart – Toronto 12th with 15 points and Atlanta ninth on 19 points. Toronto’s biggest undoing so far in the MLS has been a poor run in defence; they are the poorest on that front in the eastern Conference, having conceded 29 times. They are coming from a huge win though, beating Montreal United 4-0 in the Canadian Championship semi finals. That was just another case of their impressive scoring run – they have failed to score once in their last five matches. However, that has been boosted massively by participating in the Canadian championship. In MLS action they’ve failed to score in three of their last five matches and this season, they have no clean sheet in the league so far. In each of the last three MLS games, they’ve scored two or more goals.

Three clean sheets only in 14 league matches means Atlanta United aren’t also doing well in the MLS, at least defensively. They however go into this game having lost just once in their last five league matches – at home to Columbus Crew. In terms of attack, they will definitely have an edge over Toronto; they’ve scored in each of the last five matches and four times in that run, they’ve managed two or more goals. Four of these five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and while they’ve been good in attack, three times in the last four matches, they’ve conceded twice. It isn’t very good for them away from home though, as they head here with three defeats in the last four matches on the road. In each of the last three away matches, they conceded twice, but in their most recent, they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Nashville.
