Mansfield Town and Port Vale meet at Wembley in the final of the League Two playoffs. Mansfield certainly had the easier semi-final as they won both legs against Northampton for a 3-1 aggregate win while Port Vale recovered from a 2-1 first leg deficit against Swindon before eventually booking their place in the final with a penalty shootout victory. These teams were only separated by one point after the league season with Mansfield taking the last playoff position by finishing in 7th place. They squeezed into the playoffs courtesy of a superb finish to the season which saw them pick up 8 of a possible 12 points in their last four regular season matches. Mansfield have peaked at the right time of the season as they are now unbeaten in their last six matches with four wins and two draws.

Port Vale needed penalties to get past Swindon in the last round and will be looking to start this match on a better note. They will be confident against this Mansfield side as they avoided defeat in their two league encounters this season with a win and a draw. Port Vales form has started to stutter at the wrong time of the season as they have only recorded two wins in their last six matches. Their form on the road though has been much better with five wins in their last seven matches. Port Vale have relied on a great defensive set in their away matches as they have only conceded four goals in their last five matches.
