After four straight away matches, Liverpool will be back at Anfield to welcome Brighton in the 10th round of matches in the Premier League. The Reds go to this game second in the league standings with 21 points then Brighton have 15 points, in sixth place. Liverpool’s fine run this season continued with a 2-0 win over Preston North End in the League Cup on Wednesday. They haven’t lost any of their 14 matches this season, and have won 11 of them. In their last game they claimed a 5-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford but they paid the price with Naby Keita and James Milner leaving injured. They join a long list of injuries that has Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliot. Liverpool are however not short of quality replacements. Going to this game they have four straight wins and they’ve scored two or more goals in 13 of their 14 matches this season. The only time they haven’t scored more than a goal was in the 1-01 draw with Chelsea. In the last eight league games at home, Liverpool are unbeaten, winning five of them.

Brighton started the season brightly, but all that has subsided and they go to this clash winless in the last five matches. Four of those five matches were draws though, including their most recent, a 2-2 outcome against Leicester City in the League Cup before losing on post match penalties. Brighton have trailed in three of their last five matches but they’ve come from down to level matters at 90 minutes in two of the three. This will present a different kind of battle, with Liverpool currently one of the most in-form sides in the league. Brighton did manage a win in their last meeting with Liverpool, but going to this game having conceded six in the last two games, and having managed more than a goal in just one of five, places them as underdogs. They’ve also failed to score in two of their last four matches.
