Burkina Faso had a slow start to the 2021 AFCON but all has been great for them thereafter and they will be in contention for a place in the final. They take on Senegal in the semi finals and will be looking to continue with their impressive showing so far. In the quarter finals, Burkina Faso held their own to beat Tunisia 1-0, despite finishing the game with 10 men. Burkina Faso’s scorer in the Tunisia game, Dango Ouattara was sent off in the 82nd minute and will be suspended for the semis. Ahead of this game, Burkina Faso haven’t managed more than a goal in their five matches at this competition. Two of their five matches have ended in draws, one of them sending the game to post match penalties.

Just like Burkina Faso, Senegal are in the chase for their first ever AFCON title. They’ve been to the final twice, the most recent being in the last edition where they suffered a 1-0 loss to Algeria. This time Senegal seem well armed for the job ahead after a slow start to the competition then bursting out after the group stages. Senegal are coming from a 3-1 win over Equatorial Guinea, the first time in this competition that they conceded a goal. Each of their opening four matches before the quarters had ended in under 2.5 goals and Senegal had just scored three goals. They will be fired up more for the semis and with their new found confidence in attack, they go into the game as favorites.
