Manchester United travel to Switzerland on Tuesday night for their first UEFA Champions League fixture of the season, against Group F rivals BSC Young Boys. The Red Devils have previously won the competition three times, the last being 2008, and finished as runners-up in the Europa League final last season, coming up short in an extraordinary penalty shoot-out defeat to Villarreal. Young Boys have never won a European honour in their history, and this is only the second time they have qualified for the group stage of this competition. Their last group stage appearance, in 2018/19, also pitted them in a group with United, as well as Juventus and Valencia. They finished bottom of the group on that occasion, losing both of their fixtures against United. 

While United qualified automatically due to their league placing last season, Young Boys had to play six UCL matches to make it to this stage. They won all three of their home matches in that process, scoring three and failing to keep a clean sheet in each one. Young Boys have an attacking pedigree but will struggle to keep up with a strong United attack, further strengthened by the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo in the final stages of the transfer window. Ronaldo scored a brace in a 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United on Sunday in his second debut for the club. Ronaldo's likely to follow up with more goals in midweek is high, given he's the all-time top goalscorer in UCL history (with 134 goals in 176 games). United's last seven UCL games featured over 2.5 goals. We suggest backing over 3.5 for this game.
