The Turkish Super Lig resumes this weekend after a lengthy winter break with a showstopping fixture on Sunday. League leaders Sivasspor are four points clear at the top of the table in what could play out as a fascinating title race. They have four teams in the European places breathing down their necks behind them, all within seven points of top spot. They travel to face the team in fifth place, Besiktas, in round 18 of the Super Lig in the hopes of furthering their lead over the chasing pack. Sivasspor opened their campaign with a signal of championship intent by battering Besiktas 3-0 at the Sivas Stadium. They have never won a Turkish title and doing the double over one of Turkey's traditional powerhouses (Besiktas have won 15 Turkish titles) would do wonders for momentum at the start of the second half of their season.

However, while Sivasspor deserve to lead at this stage of the season, they have done so off the back of incredible home form. At home, they have won eight of their nine matches. Away from home, they have only won three of their eight games, the fifth-best record in the division. This may not bode well for a trip to Besiktas, the team with the next-best home record after Sivasspor. The head-to-head record of these two teams paints a picture of rivals who are evenly matched, each winning three of their last six encounters.
