Aberdeen are just coming back from a Europa Conference League clash and hope to settle back fast enough for the Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee United. Aberdeen lost 2-0 to Swedish side, Hacken on Wednesday, but sailed through courtesy of a 5-1 win in the first leg. Manager Stephen Glass will hope for a good start to the league after the shocker in Sweden. He will also hope his players will be fit enough, after fielding his best side despite a huge lead from the first leg. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas especially, will attract a lot of focus after suffering a head injury in the game, and his withdrawal somehow dented Aberdeen’s attack. They have one win in their last six matches and have failed to score in four of them. In their last 10 matches, they’ve kept just one clean sheet.

Dundee United are coming from four straight wins in the League Cup and are unbeaten in the last seven matches. In three of their last four matches, they have kept clean sheets and will feel capable of matching Aberdeen in this fixture. They take to this game a better return in defence and they’ve had more days of rest compared to Aberdeen, having last played on 20th July. Dundee United’s away run is equally good, with a five-match unbeaten run and four clean sheets in the process. They’ve only failed to score once in those five away matches and will hope to carry this run to their league opener.
